We’re excited to share that Digital Academy of Texas was recently featured in the San Antonio Report!

Reporter Xochilt Garcia explored the expansion of virtual education across Texas and spent time with our DATX community—interviewing Executive Director Erica Kouros, Principal Megan Goldsmith, and English teacher Shakira Roberts.

The article tells our story: how we’ve grown from 25 students when we opened in 2021 to more than 2,700 students today. It also shares the “why” behind what we do—how virtual learning creates opportunities for all kinds of students, from those who need flexible scheduling to those seeking advanced coursework.

Mrs. Roberts opened up about her own journey to online teaching. After years in a traditional classroom, she said virtual instruction helped her “find the passion for teaching again.” She now has more time to connect meaningfully with students and be present for her own four children.

Principal Goldsmith and Executive Director Kouros talked about the wide range of learners we serve and how our model allows us to meet each student’s unique needs.
