Myths About Online Learning

FACT: Students at Digital Academy of Texas (DATX) can participate in academic and social outings. These outings and activities may include trips to museums, skate parks, zoos, etc.

FACT: While attendance, planning, and assessment are all recorded online, students are involved in activities offline as well, including using textbooks, art supplies, science materials, etc. As students move through the curriculum each year, more of their instruction is delivered online. By high school, students work mostly online in conjunction with their teacher and class.

FACT: Students will need to spend about six hours on schoolwork each day and the Learning Coach or mentor needs to be available during that time to help guide and support the student.

FACT: While DATX is a public school that operates outside of a traditional classroom, it meets the standards set forth by the Texas Education Agency. Students are required to take standardized tests mandated by the state of Texas. The K12 curriculum is developed by a team of education professionals dedicated to engaging young minds and providing interesting and interactive learning experiences.
