Texarkana Independent School District is celebrating a major achievement at the Digital Academy of Texas, which has officially been certified as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by Franklin Covey Education. This prestigious designation recognizes schools that demonstrate exceptional leadership, strong school culture, and academic excellence.
The Digital Academy of Texas is Texarkana ISD’s online public school, providing students in the district with a full, tuition-free education through a virtual learning environment while maintaining Texas curriculum standards and district oversight.

With this honor, the Digital Academy of Texas joins a growing list of Texarkana ISD Lighthouse Schools, including Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary, Nash Elementary, Parks Elementary, Theron Jones Early Literacy Center, Waggoner Creek Elementary, and Wake Village Elementary.

A Milestone in Leadership and Culture in Texarkana

Lighthouse Certification is considered one of the highest recognitions in the Leader in Me framework. Developed by FranklinCovey Education, Leader in Me is a comprehensive school improvement model that focuses on teaching students leadership and essential life skills alongside academics, helping create positive school cultures where students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning.

Megan Goldsmith, principal of the Digital Academy of Texas, said in a press release,

Earning Lighthouse Certification reflects the hard work and commitment of our staff, the leadership of our students, and the support of our families. We are proud to create a learning environment that empowers students to lead, take ownership of their learning, and reach their full potential.

Texarkana Independent School District Looking Ahead

As part of the recognition, the Digital Academy of Texas received an official Lighthouse Review Report, certification documentation, and a Lighthouse School seal for use on its website and district communications. A commemorative banner will also be delivered soon to mark the accomplishment.
